Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Sunday that his country stood like a wall between terrorism and the world. “He met the delegation of the US Parliament and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, security and anti-terrorism areas.
The Delegation of the US Parliament included Jack Bergman, Thomas Richard Suoji and Jonathan L Jackson. According to an official statement, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interests, focusing on advancing economy, trade, investment, security and anti-terrorism cooperation.
The Home Minister said that terrorism is a global challenge and the international community needs to cooperate fully with Pakistan. He underlined that Pakistan stands as “a wall between terrorism and the world”.
The minister said that Pakistan’s sacrifice in the war against terrorism is incomparable and this visit to the American delegation will prove to be important in underlining Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism.
The US delegation met Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday and discussed promoting relations between the two countries. This is the first visit to the delegation of the US Parliament in about two years.
A statement stated that the meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan-US bilateral relations, especially in the field of development cooperation and future cooperation in various fields.
Iqbal said on the occasion that there is a need to establish a new balance in Pakistan-American relations in the new Bhurajiti situation which is based on the ground reality, mutual trust and development-centric partnership. He said that a strong partnership between the two countries would contribute significantly to regional stability and global peace, especially when the global atmosphere is unstable.
