The Tata Group -owned Air India Aviation Company reported that flights connecting North America, Britain, Europe and Western Asia are now likely to pass through alternative extended routes. Apart from IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express and SpiceJet also operates international flights. Let us tell you that all flights going from North Indian cities including Delhi to west countries will be affected.
According to senior officials and pilots of aviation companies, an alternative route for flights will have to be selected, which will be longer over the Arabian Sea. Let us tell you that due to the increasing tension between India and Pakistan due to the Pahalgam terror attack, the neighboring country said on Thursday that it will not allow Indian aircraft to use its airspace. After this, Air India said in a post on ‘X’ that the announcement of a ban on Pakistan airspace for all Indian aviation companies is likely that some flights from North America, Britain, Europe and West Asia or there will be used by some flights alternative extended routes. The airline said, “Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to the unexpected airspace closure. It is out of our control.” IndiGo said that some of our international flights are being affected due to Pakistan’s sudden declaration of airspace closure. The company said in a post on ‘X’, “We can understand that it (from the aircraft closure) may cause inconvenience and our teams are trying their best to help you reach their destination as soon as possible.” According to sources, the flight duration will increase due to alternative routes and in turn, fuel consumption and operational expenditure will increase. Sources said that the air fare is likely to increase as the aviation companies can put the high costs in the journey on the passengers.

Let us tell you that in the ‘Notice to Airman’ issued by Pakistan, it has been told that the airspace for Indian aircraft is being closed for a month. However, it is not immediately clear whether the ban will be extended after this period.
On the other hand, IndiGo said that Pakistan’s airspace closure has affected some of its international flights and is monitoring the airline situation closely. Let us tell you that on Thursday, the airline canceled some international flights including flights from Delhi to Almaty and Tashkent. IndiGo, who operates around 2200 flights daily, said in a post on ‘X’, “We are closely monitoring the situation after Pakistan suddenly closed and some of our international flights have been affected.” The airline said, “Many of our teams are working ready to assess the situation and provide the best possible options to the affected customers.”
