Parliament approves the Waqf Amendment Bill, the government said- there will be no loss of any Muslim

The Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 was finally passed from the Rajya Sabha after war-palatwar, blushing speech and long discussion. It cast 128 votes in its favor. Both houses of Parliament have passed this bill. In such a situation, this bill will be converted into law after the President’s approval. Although various things are being done about this bill, the Modi government was successful in passing this bill. It was from the ordeal for the Modi government in which it easily achieved success. The NDA remained completely united in favor of the bill and in such a situation the government helped in passing the bill. Even today, there was a discussion of more than 12 hours in the Rajya Sabha. Many members gave suggestions about this. It was later passed in the Rajya Sabha by majority. All amendments to the opposition were rejected.
In the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that for the first time the draft of the Waqf Amendment Bill was prepared and the bill we are now passing, there are many changes in it. If we had not accepted anyone’s suggestions, this bill would have been completely different. He clearly stated that it is not against any religion. Rijiju said, “In any way the government does not manage the Waqf property and does not interfere in it.” He clearly said that this bill will not harm a single Muslim. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi described the Waqf Bill as the beginning of a new era for the country and appreciated the government for this initiative. He stressed that this amendment would benefit the Muslim community and criticized the Congress that it failed to implement such reforms earlier.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday alleged the Waqf Bill against Muslims, alleging that this (bill) had been brought to the minorities to destroy the minorities. Kharge said that such an atmosphere has been created in the country that this bill has been brought to harass the minorities. Along with this, he urged Home Minister Amit Shah not to make this bill a question of prestige and the government should withdraw it. Congress President Kharge, while participating in the discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025 in the Upper House, said that the Lok Sabha got 288 votes in favor of this bill while 238 votes in the opposition. He said that it is clear from this that there are flaws and shortcomings in it and the government should look into it.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ram Gopal Yadav on Thursday targeted the government in the Rajya Sabha and alleged that when he sold all the property of the country, his eyes went on Waqf’s property. Participating in the discussion on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Upper House, the SP leader said that from 2014 to 2024, the government did not remember how much property and how much money the Waqf has. He said, “… When he sold all the property, he saw where (property) is left.” Do not do this. ”Yadav said that all people will work together only then the country can progress. He said that all religions should be treated equally and Muslims do not feel that injustice is being done to them.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda said in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the aim of the Waqf Amendment Bill is to ensure transparency in the management of Waqf’s land to control their misuse and stop the land mafia with the ‘cream’. He said that this bill is in the interest of the nation and is not in favor of any party nor has it been brought keeping in mind any vote bank. Participating in the discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025 in the Rajya Sabha, Nadda said that the existing Waqf law was harming the Muslims and the land mafia was causing cream. Targeting the Congress, he asked him to stay away from such “Malai Khoron”.
In the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the Trinamool Congress launched a scathing attack on the Central Government over the Waqf Amendment Bill and claimed that the bill violates the constitutional provisions and also affects the rights of the states. Participating in the discussion held on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025 in the Upper House, Trinamool Congress member Mohammad Nadeemul Haque said that this bill is not only associated with Muslims but also to the whole country and it violates fundamental rights. He described the bill as a non-essential step and said that it is against the interests of unconstitutional and minorities. Haq said that the constitution is not a book but the country is going to show the way.

On Wednesday, a member of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha alleged that the provisions of this bill will help in improving the situation of the poor, Pasmanda Muslims and women of the country. Participating in the discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025 in the Upper House, Dr. Radhamohan Das Aggarwal of the Bharatiya Janata Party said that when Congress member Naseer Hussain won the Rajya Sabha elections, the slogans of Pakistan Zindabad were raised in the Karnataka Assembly and the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party were put in jail for opposing it. He said that when the ruling BJP did not get an absolute majority in 2024 and it was reduced to 240 seats, it remembered this Waqf Act and started calling it a repressive law. He said that Waqf boards were not formed in many BJP ruled states and today Minority Minister is talking about bringing transparency in Waqf.
In the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party -led government that it changed his stance after supporting the Waqf Amendment Bill in 2013 because it did not get a clear majority in the 2024 election and it was spreading all kinds of misconceptions in the country about the Waqf law. Participating in the discussion in the Upper House on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Syed Naseer Hussain of the Congress said that when this bill came to Parliament in 2013, BJP leaders in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha supported it, but today it is being termed as ‘repressive law’. He said that when the ruling BJP did not get an absolute majority in 2024 and it was reduced to 240 seats, it remembered this Waqf Act and started calling it a repressive law.
