A US embassy spokesman said on Monday that a delegation of US officials will visit India from 25 to 29 March for trade talks with Indian authorities. Brandon Lynch, auxiliary American trade representative for South and Central Asia, will lead the group.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss the American trade charges. The meeting focused on India’s strategy to address possible mutual charges from the US starting next month. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies and concerns over India’s influence on India were the major topics. The government is also considering relaxing Chinese FDI and discovering non-business obstacles.

The journey shows the continuous commitment of the United States to carry forward productive and balanced trade relations with India. Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal spent about a week earlier this month in the US, where he discussed the trade, and the plan of US President Donald Trump to impose a mutual tariff from April 2 raised concern among Indian exporters. Last month, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America, the two countries agreed to work on the first phase of the trade agreement by the autumn of 2025, targeting to reach $ 500 billion by 2030.
India’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said last week that India and the US are discussing to resolve tariff issues and to finalize the outline of bilateral trade agreement. A spokesman for the US embassy said that we value our ongoing cooperation with the Government of India on business and investment matters and hope to continue these discussions in a creative, justified and visionary manner.
