Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Mark Carney for victory in the Canadian general election and said that he was eager to work together to open more and more opportunities. By 3:15 am (Ottawa time), Mark Carney’s Liberal Party candidates were leading or elected in 167 seats, while 145 seats of Conservative Party were ahead. The Liberal Party had about 43 percent of the national vote, but the 343 -member House of Commons could lag behind the 172 seats required for the majority. Staying behind the majority would mean that Carney’s government will be forced to work closely with other parties to pass the budget and other laws.
