Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 38th National Games with a colorful opening ceremony presenting a glimpse of the religious heritage and biodiversity of Uttarakhand. Under this competition, about 10 thousand players will present a challenge to win medals in 32 sports. The games will run till February 14 and competitions will be organized in seven cities of this hill state including the main venue in Dehradun. About 450 gold medals and a similar number of silver and bronze medals are at stake.

During his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Devbhoomi has become more divine with youth energy today. National Games are starting today with Baba Kedar, Badrinath ji, Maa Ganga’s Shubhashish. This year is the 25th year of the construction of Uttarakhand. Thousands of youths from every corner of the country in this youth state are going to show their ability. He said that a very beautiful picture of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ is seen here. Many native and traditional sports have been included in the National Games this time too. This time the National Games is also a kind of green games.
Prime Minister Modi said that a beautiful bouquet of sports is being prepared in the country in which flowers bloom in every season, there are frequent tournaments. He said that when a country progresses in sports, the credibility of the country also increases and the profile also increases. He said that the old glorious days are returning in hockey, our Kho-Kho team has won the World Cup, Gukesh won the World Chess Championship which surprised the world. He said that I want to congratulate CM Dhami and people of Uttarakhand for organizing this national game. We are creating opportunities for our athletes so that they can improve their skills. Due to the Khela India Youth Games, young athletes have got new opportunities to show their talent.

Modi said that many tournaments are being organized in the country today. Many new tournaments have been added to the Khelo India series. Young players have got a chance to move forward due to Khelo India Youth Games. University Games are giving new opportunities to university students. The performance of para athletes from Khelo India Para Games is performing new achievements. He said that as our players walk with big goals, our country is also moving forward with big resolutions. Modi said that India is trying its best to host 2036 Olympics and when there is an Olympics in India, it will take Indian Games to a new sky.
