Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday that the police will now have longer to focus on their basic duties like crime control, women safety and public security, with the police being freed from the responsibility of issuing licenses to businesses.
He said that this is a historic day for Delhi. With this major reform, the police will now be able to dedicate their energy and resources to the real police system.
Gupta announced that establishments such as Hotels, Motal, Guests, Restaurants, Swimming Pools, Auditorium, Discotech, Video Game Parlor and Manorary Park would no longer need to obtain a NOC (NOC) from Delhi Police for their operations.
Instead, the right to issue such licenses will now be with local bodies like Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) or Delhi Cantonment Board.
Gupta said, it was a demand for 40 years of the people of Delhi and the business community for 40 years. The work of about 25,000 establishments was delayed and about 10 to 20 lakh people associated with them were upset due to this obstacle. This problem is ending today.
He thanked the Central Government for accepting the request of the Delhi government and said that this change is in accordance with the center’s minimum government, maximum governance approach and its effort to facilitate business.
