Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge criticized the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday and said that the ministry has refused to give political approval for his official visit to America, on which he has taken a U-turn. On the social media platform X, Priyank Kharge said that the approval was finally approved on June 19, 36 days after his initial application and five days after his scheduled departure.

Kharge said, “So taking a U-turn, the Ministry of External Affairs has now decided to cancel its earlier decision and approve me for the official visit to the United States.” He questioned the objectives and delays behind the initial rejection. Earlier, the Congress leader also claimed that he had applied on 15 May for approval of travel to represent the Karnataka government at the BIO International Convention in two global forums – Boston from 14 and 27 June at the BIO International Convention (DAC) in Boston. Apart from this, more than 25 meetings were to be held with major companies, universities and institutions for investment and cooperation.]]]

Kharge alleged that his original request, which included officers as part of the delegation, was rejected on June 4 without any official clarification. Only the revised application for officers was approved on 11 June. The subsequent request for approval of the Keonics Chairman only was approved on 14 June. He commented in his post, stating the order of applications and decisions, “Understand chronology.”
