Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann here on Wednesday accused the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party of never caring about the people of the state and always putting their personal interests first.
Mann made this comment while campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Ishank Kumar. He is contesting the by-election from Chabbewal (reserved) seat. Addressing a gathering, Mann said, these parties only benefited their families and relatives.
Therefore, in 2022, the public defeated the giants and elected an ordinary person from among them. He said, leaders of BJP and Congress were visible only at the time of elections, but after Aam Aadmi Party came to power they had to change their strategy. Now they have to come out of their luxurious homes and beg for votes.
He said, these people were born with silver spoons, they do not know the struggles of the common people. “We concentrate on the work,” he said. We talk about schools, hospitals, electricity, trade, laborers and farmers. We do not get involved in caste and religion based politics.
By-elections to four assembly seats (Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Barnala) will be held on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. The MLAs of these seats have been elected to the Lok Sabha, due to which by-elections are being held here.
