Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi on Saturday criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said that she made “absurd” comments taking credit for women’s empowerment.

RJD leader Rabri attended a function organized by the party on the occasion of International Women’s Day here, in which his son Tejashwi Yadav also attended. Rabri Devi asked, “Nitish Kumar claims that whatever is good in Bihar has been achieved since 2005, when he came to power. Was he born in the same year? ”

Continuing the attack on Nitish, he claimed, “He dare to say that girls and women did not wear clothes before he came to power in Bihar.” Is this true for the women of their own family? ”

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had pointed to the Leader of the Opposition Rabri Devi during a sharp debate with the RJD’s women members in the Legislative Council, saying “When her husband drowned, he made his wife the Chief Minister.”

The use of the word ‘her husband’ by Kumar was considered derogatory and the members of the RJD also opposed it inside the House. Rabri Devi first became the Chief Minister in 1997 when her husband and RJD president Lalu Prasad had to step down after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed the charge sheet in the fodder scam.
