Railway Minister shared eight features of Katra Srinagar Rail Contact Project

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared eight notable features of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project on Friday.

In a post on the social media forum ‘X’, Vaishnav described the project as a ‘notable achievement of engineering’ and emphasized that it included ‘India’s longest transport tunnel, T-50’. Located between Khari and Sumbar, the length of this tunnel is 12.77 km. Additionally, India’s second longest transport tunnel, T-80, is also included in rail contact. B

The tunnel, known as the Pir Panjal railway tunnel located between Nihal and Qazigund, is 11.22 km long. He said, “India’s third longest railway tunnel is between T-44, Savalkot-Sangaladan, which is 11.13 km, the total length.”

Vaishnav said that the project includes the construction of 36 main tunnels, which have a total length of 119.6 km, as well as eight exit tunnels have been constructed, whose total length is 66.4 kilometers.

He also presented a description of the Chenab bridge, which is the world’s highest arches (Arch Bridge) bridge, which is 1.3 km in length and height is 359 meters. The bridge is 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

On this occasion, Vaishnav told about India’s first cable sted rail bridge ‘Anji Bridge’. The length of this bridge is 725.5 meters, in the middle of which there is a pillar and the height of this pillar is 193 meters. The notable thing is that all 96 stay cables were installed within just 11 months, whose total length is 653 km.
