The Rajasthan Police on Sunday arrested a police constable for raping a married woman in Jaipur on the pretext of recording the statement of a married woman.
Sanganer Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinod Kumar Sharma said that the victim’s husband had lodged an FIR against constable Bhagaram on Saturday night. He said that the accused constable has been arrested after questioning in custody.
According to the FIR lodged in the case, Constable Bhagaram, a constable posted at Sanganer police station, reached the complainant’s house on Saturday on the pretext of recording a statement and took his wife to a hotel room.
The complainant said that at the time when the accused constable went to his house, he went out in connection with work. He said that the accused constable took the wife of the complainant and his three -year -old son to a hotel where he allegedly raped his wife in front of his son in the hotel room.
Police said that when the victim protested, she threatened to put her husband in jail. He told that he also threatened the woman to take action when she told anyone about the incident. He told that a medical examination of the woman has been conducted.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot targeted the BJP government over the incident. He said, on the day of Women’s Day, this incident of the Chief Minister’s assembly constituency shows the pathetic situation of law and order in Rajasthan.
She wrote in a post on ‘X’, “It is very embarrassing that on the occasion of Women’s Day, when the BJP government was busy with IIFA Awards and entertained, then a Dalit pregnant woman in the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma was raped by a policeman in front of a three -year -old child.”
He said, “IIFA has its own importance but such negligence cannot be tolerated with the safety of the common man.” He said, “Under the BJP government’s rule, the guards are becoming eaters.” The state government should dismiss this accused constable from service and the matter should be punished as soon as possible by taking the matter in the ‘case officer scheme’. “He said,” The matter should be made a prisoner so that such atrocities can be stopped by the police.
