According to sources, the current BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla can take over as an interim president for three months before the annual general meeting to be held in September. During the AGM, MP and former IPL President Shukla can stand for a full tenure as BCCI President.

BCCI President Roger Binny’s term is scheduled to end in July this year. The World Cup winning all -rounder will turn 70. According to the BCCI Constitution, no person remains an officer after reaching the age of 70 years. According to sources, the current BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla can take over as an interim president for three months before the annual general meeting to be held in September. During the AGM, MP and former IPL President Shukla can stand for a full tenure as BCCI President.

Shukla is currently working as the Vice President of the Cricket Board. Rajiv Shukla will discharge the duties of the Speaker until a new person is elected for this prestigious post. Binny was elected as the BCCI President in 2022, as he took over from Sourav Ganguly. The legendary fast bowler has represented the country in 27 Tests and 72 ODIs, in which he has taken a total of 124 wickets. He played an important role in India’s historic 1983 World Cup win, with 18 wickets in eight innings, the tournament bowler was the highest wicket -taker.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Shukla has held the post of Vice President of BCCI since 2020. He has also worked as the Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) till 2017 and the President of the Indian Premier League (IPL) till 2018. Earlier this year, Devjit Saikia was appointed as BCCI Secretary, replacing Jai Shah, who became the chairman of the ICC. Saikia was elected unopposed.
