Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday accused Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of ‘insulting’ the Hindu community by not joining the Mahakumbh and urged the Hindu voters to boycott them. Athawale, a prominent Dalit leader of Maharashtra and BJP ally Athawale criticized Thackeray for advocating Hindutva while not attending the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Ramdas Athawale said that Thackeray and Gandhi family have insulted Hindutva by not participating in Mahakumbh. Being a Hindu and not being involved in the Mahakumbh is an insult to Hindus and Hindus should boycott them. The Union Minister of State for Social Justice further said that he should have participated in the Mahakumbh in view of the sentiments of the people. Athawale said, “They always want Hindu votes, yet they did not join Mahakumbh. I think Hindu voters should boycott them.”
Referring to the November 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections, he further said, Hindu voters taught these leaders a lesson in the recent elections. The 45 -day Mahakumbh will conclude on Mahashivaratri at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. Mahakumbh, a huge religious event to be held once in 12 years, began on 13 January (Paush Purnima) and there were grand processions of Naga sadhus and three nectar baths. According to official data, more than 65 crore devotees have come to Prayagraj Kumbh this year. Famous as the world’s largest spiritual gathering on Earth, this huge religious festival attracted pilgrims from all four corners of the country on its last day.
