On 20 June next month, the Indian team has to play a five -match Test series against England. For which Shubman Gill has been given the captaincy of the Test team. After Kohli-Rohit retired from Test cricket, Ravindra Jadeja is among the senior players in the Indian team. But the selectors did not consider his name as a Test captain. On this, he says that he would like to become the Test captain of India at some time. He also said that he has played under many captains and considers this role well.
Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain of the Indian Test team and Rishabh Pant as vice -captain for the England tour. After Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket, Ashwin supported Jadeja to be the captain.
When Ashwin asked Jadeja about the captaincy in YouTube Podcast, he said that yes, I have definitely played under many captains for years. I know the mindset of each captain and I also understand what the players want and what is their mindset. Every captain’s team has a different view.
Also, Jadeja said that, I have played under MS Dhoni in every format and his thinking is very simple. If they feel that a batsman can hit shots in a particular field, then he keeps the fielder there so that the batsman feels uncomfortable. Jadeja also said that the captain is more difficult in T. T.P. than the Test team.
Jaddu further said that in Test cricket, you have to change two or three fielders as per the need of the bowler, not according to the batsman. The captain is different in Test cricket. It does not have to do much panties. It is not complicated like IPL or T20 where every ball is important.
