Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has criticized Chennai Super Kings for allowing Rachin Ravindra to practice at the CSK Academy. Before the Test series against India, Rachin practiced at the academy of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. Ravindra had gone to the CSK Academy before the one-off Test match against Afghanistan in Greater Noida and trained there to adjust to the Indian conditions.
The decision to practice at CSK Academy proved to be right for Rachin Ravindra. In the Test series against India, he played a strong inning of 134 runs in the match played in Bengaluru and then scored unbeaten 39 runs in the second innings. New Zealand won the Test match against India for the first time in 36 years and Rachin Ravindra was chosen Player of the Match for his excellent performance in the match.
While receiving the award, Ravindra told how the preparation done in Chennai helped him in his batting. Recently, Uthappa had criticized CSK’s move to allow practice at its academy, saying that a line has to be drawn as the country always comes before the franchise.
Uthappa said on his YouTube channel that, Rachin Ravindra came here and practiced at CSK Academy. CSK is a beautiful franchise, which always takes care of its franchise players but a line has to be drawn where the interest of the country comes ahead of your franchise players. Especially when he is a foreign player and has come to play against your country.
Ravindra scored the highest 256 runs for New Zealand in the three-Test series and his average was 51.20. The parents of this left-handed batsman, Deepa and Ravi Krishnamurthy, are residents of Bengaluru. His grandparents still live in this Indian city.
