A Bangladeshi citizen was arrested at an immigration point in West Bengal when he was trying to enter the country using the Indian identity card. The arrested person Salim Sheikh (31) hails from Murshidabad, who was found to have a double identity. Police sources said that during the investigation at Mahdipur Immigration Point in Malda, a Bangladeshi identity card was seized from him. The English Bazaar Police took Sheikh into custody and produced it in the Malda District Court. The court sent him to six days police custody. Senior police officer Pradeep Kumar Yadav said that the investigation of the incident has been started. The incident has led to a political dispute, the BJP has accused the ruling Trinamool government of promoting illegal infiltration. BJP President of South Malda district Ajay Ganguly alleged that fake voters are active in the border districts and are involved in electoral disturbances.
