Former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendra Jain may have to face new legal problems after President Draupadi Murmu approved a prosecution against him in the money laundering case. The approval given on February 18, 2025, has been given by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) after a request made on 14 February 2025.
Government case against Satyendra Jain
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that based on the evidence provided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), there was enough material to prosecute Jain. As a result, the Ministry sought the President’s approval to proceed for legal action. After the approval, the case will now be heard under Section 2018 of the Civil Protection of Civil Protection of India (BNSS) 2023.

Accused of Satyendra Jain
Jain was arrested by the ED on May 30, 2022 in the money laundering case. He was accused of laundering ₹ 16.39 crore through shell companies in 2015-2016. After his arrest, he was sent to Tihar Jail, where he remained in custody for a long time. However, on October 18, 2023, a Delhi court granted a delay in the trial and prolonged imprisonment and granted him bail.
The Aam Aadmi Party calls it BJP’s conspiracy
During Jain’s hearing on bail, the ED argued that he could influence witnesses if he was allowed to remain free. However, the AAP leaders appreciated the bail verdict of the court, calling it a victory of truth and defeat of the BJP’s conspiracy. Earlier, on May 26, 2023, Jain was granted interim bail on medical grounds after spinal surgery. After getting the approval of prosecution from the President, the case will now be run against Satyendra Jain in the court. If found guilty, they may suffer serious legal consequences, which will affect your political career and your reputation before the major elections. This case remains a major political issue in the ongoing tussle between AAP and BJP in Delhi, in which both parties are accusing and counter-corruption and political vengeance.
