Seven lakh drug drugs recovered in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, four smugglers arrested

Police gave this information. A police spokesperson said that Jeevan Kumar and Sunil Kumar (both residents Jaganu village) were arrested after recovery of 9.40 grams of heroin worth about six lakh rupees from their possession in Tikri on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. He said that both were going on a motorcycle, when the police stopped them and investigated them.

The spokesperson said that two other smugglers, driver Sanjay Kumar and Rohit Kumar, resident of Kah-Falata village were arrested when a 9.60 kg of sawdust of about one lakh rupees was recovered from their vehicle at the Flatta check post in Rahmbal area. He said that a case has been registered against all four smugglers arrested under the NDPS Act.

The spokesman said that the police have registered 61 cases under the NDPS law related to drug prevention in the district since January this year and arrested 87 accused. The spokesperson said that 22 vehicles used for drug transport have been confiscated, while six pharmacy shops have also been attached to violate the drug criteria. He said that transactions of 43 bank accounts associated with drug smugglers were also banned, including Rs 16,72,948.

The spokesperson said that during this period, the banned drug seized drugs including heroin, charas, sawdust and ganja were Rs 2.42 crore in the black market. Police also seized assets worth Rs 4.69 crore, including several vehicles, homes and commercial properties related to both drug and cow smuggling cases. The spokesman said that in 21 cases, 28 drug smugglers have been convicted in the courts, which reflects the professional approach to the investigation and prosecution.
