Terrorism and forced recovery module busted in Amritsar, two persons arrested: Punjab Police

The Punjab Police on Sunday claimed that it arrested two people and busted a module of terrorism and forced recovery. Thismudule was associated with a member of the banned organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that BKI member Jeevan Fauji was running a forced recovery gang in the border districts of Punjab which targeted individuals. He said that two of his colleagues, Verowal resident Karjpreet Singh and Gurlal Singh alias Harman, resident of Goindwal Sahib of Tarn Taran have been arrested.

The DGP said in a post on ‘X’ that Fauji provided a pistol to Karjpreet and Gurlal Singh and instructed them to shoot at a furniture shop in Amritsar area.

He said, “The incident of firing was part of the forced recovery attempt, in which Jeevan Fauji demanded a ransom from a shop owner’s Canada -based relative.”

He said, “On the basis of the revelations of the accused Gurlal, a team of police took him to the recovery of the weapon used in the crime. During this campaign, the accused attempted to shoot at the police team, after which the police also retaliated in self -defense.

In this retaliation, Gurlal was shot in his left leg. He was immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital in Amritsar for treatment. ”Yadav said that an FIR has been registered and detailed investigation is being done in this regard.
