Jammu and Kashmir encounter: The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in Baramulla district on Thursday (November 7) after suspicious movement of terrorists was observed, the army said. When challenged, the terrorists started firing indiscriminately, the army said, adding that the operation was ongoing. At least two terrorists killed in Sopore today. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition have been recovered from them.
Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said, “Based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, on 07 Nov 24, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in Panipura, Sopore, Baramulla. Alert troops detected suspicious activity When sighted and challenged, the terrorists started firing indiscriminately. The operation is going on.

There has been an increase in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir and security forces have had encounters with them. On Wednesday morning, an official said that there was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Margi area of Lolab in Kupwara.
In another development, security forces killed a terrorist in Bandipora on Wednesday. Earlier on Tuesday, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in the general area of Chuntwadi Kaitsan in Bandipora, following an encounter between security forces and terrorists.
In another development on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police along with 22RR and 92 BN of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested a terrorist associate, identified as Ashiq Hussain Wani, from Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. He is a resident of Tuzar Sharif, police said.
On November 3, police said twelve people, including a woman, were injured in a grenade attack at a Tourist Reception Center (TRC) and weekly market in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on Sunday.
On 2 November, two terrorists were killed by security forces during an encounter in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter started after security forces launched anti-terrorist operation in Halkan Gali area.
On October 29, security forces killed three terrorists in a major encounter in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir after an attack on an army convoy. On October 20, a doctor and six construction workers were killed when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal district.
