Singh announced in front of the Panchayat that the decision should be left to the buffalo. The buffalo will be left alone on the road and the person it follows will be declared its owner. The villagers also agreed to this decision and both Nandlal and Hanuman were asked to stand in opposite directions on the road to their village.

Police in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, found an innovative and unique way to decide the ownership of a buffalo that had gone missing from its owner's house a few days ago. When the panchayat failed to resolve the matter, the police left the buffalo to decide by leaving it abandoned on the road. After some time, the buffalo went back to its owner's house and the matter was resolved. The case pertains to Nandlal Saroj, a resident of Rai Askaranpur village in Maheshganj police station area of the district. His buffalo went missing a few days ago and wandered all over Harikash village, where a man named Hanuman Saroj reportedly caught it.

After three days of tireless search, Nandlal finally located the animal but Hanuman refused to return the buffalo. After this, Nandlal reached Maheshganj police station and lodged a complaint against Hanuman Saroj. The police called both the claimants to the police station on Thursday. However, despite a panchayat that went on for several hours on this matter, both continued to claim the buffalo to be theirs. After this, SHO of Maheshganj police station Shravan Kumar Singh found a way to resolve the dispute.

After this the police released the buffalo from the police station and it followed Nandlal straight towards Rai Askaranpur village. As per their decision the buffalo was handed over to Nandlal. The other claimant was reprimanded by both the police and the villagers.
