The only goal of the newly appointed coach Gambhir is to win at all costs: Avesh Khan

Harare. Indian fast bowler Avesh Khan said here on Friday that the only goal of the newly appointed national team coach Gautam Gambhir is to win at all costs and get the best out of the players. Gambhir was appointed the new head coach of the Indian team in place of Rahul Dravid earlier this week. He will start his new innings with the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Avesh has played for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL while being Gambhir's mentor.

The fast bowler told BCCI ahead of the fourth T20 International against Zimbabwe on Saturday, “What I learned from him is about the mindset that you should always perform better than your opponent and give your 100 percent. He said, “He speaks very little in team meetings and one-on-one conversations but is very clear about what to do. He puts some challenge in front of you and assigns roles to the players. He has always been a 'team coach'. He wants to win at all costs and he wants every player to give his 100 percent. ”

Avesh has taken six wickets in three matches so far and he said that he is enjoying his bowling a lot. He said, “We have played on different wickets here. We played the first two matches on the same wicket. In the first match, it was giving good bounce but in the second match it became flat. The conditions are good and because this ground is open, the ball is also swinging a bit. “Avesh said, “The matches are being played during the day, so sometimes the wicket becomes dry but being a bowler you should be ready for every kind of situation. I always try to take wickets for my team. The boundary line here is quite far which is good for the bowlers.
