Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that the work to fill the third breach in the embankment of a small river Budameru is underway and expressed confidence that it would be completed soon. “The work to close the third breach of Budameru is in a crucial stage and will be completed soon… water will not enter Vijayawada… by Sunday evening, the floodwater will be completely drained out from the roads,” Naidu said in an official press release.

The Chief Minister reviewed the relief work in the flood-affected areas through a teleconference with ministers, district collectors and senior officials on Saturday and directed them to work even on Vinayaka Chaturthi keeping in mind the hardships of the people. Directing to speed up the relief work, Naidu said that more attention needs to be paid to the sixth block of Vijayawada, from where complaints are coming about lack of distribution of essential materials. He also directed the officials to quickly assess the damage caused to the houses of flood victims and complete the cleaning work as soon as possible.
