The world is becoming familiar with the game ‘Vaibhav’ of Bihar

The magic of the IPL in the country is speaking up. Why not even …. There is a tremendous craze among Indians about sports. Recently, something happened in IPL matches that even cricket veterans did not expect. 14 -year -old Lal ‘Vaibhav Suryavanshi’ of Bihar scored the fastest century. Veteran cricketers are also looking at the future of India in Vaibhav, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi wrote Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ‘Thanks’ on his Instagram account. This Thanks has very serious matters. Vaibhav’s father is also not tired of repeatedly telling the Bihar Cricket Association, which gave Vaibhav a chance to play from Bihar at a very young age.
The success story of Vaibhav is also the story of Vihaan of ‘Nav Bihar’. Bihar, which once infamous for Jungle Raj, corruption, nepotism, riots, is not only waving in sports but also remains in the center of discussion with its economic progress.
Bihar today ranks second among the fastest growing states of the country. The state’s economy is growing at a rate of 14.50 percent. Per capita income is also expected to increase to Rs 66,828. In the IPL, Vaibhav showed the power of Bihar’s sports talent. In such a situation, it would not be an exaggeration to say that Bihar is creating a new identity as a sports hub of the country.

After a few days, for the first time in Bihar, the Mahakumbh of the Games i.e. ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ will be held. On the land of Bihar, 8500 players from 28 states, 8 union territories will clash for victory. On the pretext of this event, the state government is fixing the infrastructure of sports in five cities Patna, Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Begusarai. But it is also no less interesting that two world records were made before the Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar. The world’s largest Madhubani painting to be displayed at the Udghata ceremony at the Pataliputra Sports Complex has been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. This painting 18 feet long and wide is made of natural colors.
The second world record is built in the Mahabodhi Temple. Here the world’s largest singing bowl group was formed by 375 monks aged 5-70 years. Prior to Khelo India Youth Games, Bihar also organized a successful Women Asian Champions Trophy. Top women’s hockey teams from India, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand attended this tournament. The Bihar government is making serious efforts to promote sports in the state. The government has allocated ₹ 3,16,895 crore for sports in the budget of the financial year 2025-26, which is ₹ 38,169 crore more than the previous year. The Nitish government will develop sports infrastructure in every division, establishing a state -of -the -art sports project on 100 acres in Punpun and modern outdoor stadium in every block.
To give sports a systematic and professional look, the Bihar government has announced the establishment of Bihar Sports University. This university will promote education and research in areas such as sports science, physiotherapy, sports management, coaching and sports psychology. This will provide professional training and high level education to the players, open career opportunities in sports management, coaching and sports science and will promote research in sports medicine and sports physiotherapy. Sports experts also believe that this university will further strengthen the sports ecosystem of Bihar.
On one hand, the government is insisting on increasing basic facilities, while on the other hand, it is implementing schemes to increase participation in sports. State level sports academies have been established in cities like Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur, where players are being trained through modern technologies. Not only this, sports competitions, marathons, football and cricket leagues are also being organized at the local level. The government is also making efforts to encourage sports scholarship and private investment, so that players can get better facilities and opportunities.
In recent years, young players of Bihar have performed remarkable at the national and international level. Bihar’s female hockey players were selected in the national team and performed impressive in the Asia Cup. In kabaddi and athletics, young players from Bihar won medals in the national championship and the state cricket players got opportunities in the IPL and Ranji Trophy. They are being given all possible assistance by the Bihar government and sports associations, so that they can illuminate the name of Bihar in the country and the world by improving their sports skills.
There is no doubt that the players like Khelo India Youth Games not only get a chance to show their performance but open the doors of the local people. International tournaments such as the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 brought economic benefits to hotels, transport, restaurants and local markets in Rajgir and its surrounding areas. The state government is now planning to implement this model in other sports events, so that sports tourism in Bihar can be promoted.
During the politically important progress journey, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced to create a dozen sports complexes in various districts including Kaimur, Jamui. The Chief Minister has also announced the modernization of the stadium in Bettiah and Supaul, Rajendra Stadium in Katihar as sports complex.
Bihar is now not only the center of historical heritage and intellectual knowledge, but also its strong identity in the field of sports. Successful hosting of Women Asian Champions Trophy 2024, historical investment for sports in budget 2025-26, establishment of sports university and expansion of modern sports facilities, all these initiatives are proving to be a big step towards setting up Bihar as a major sports hub. If these schemes were implemented properly and this commitment to sports remains, many national and international level players will emerge from Bihar in the coming years.
