The annual pilgrimage of the Amarnath temple in Kashmir is scheduled to begin on July 3 – this is the first time after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. The journey has become a focal point for central security agencies, where officials are increasing security -related precautions under ‘Operation Siva’ – a practice word launched by the Indian Army to prevent any possible terrorist activity during the Amarnath Yatra.
Security arrangement
The Center has ordered the deployment of 580 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) for the annual visit, including about 42,000 ground personnel, officials stated on Thursday. While 424 companies are being sent to the Union Territory (UT), the rest, which includes about 80 companies transferred to the valley during Operation Sindoor, will be transferred for the safety of the travel route, pilgrims and other areas including Srinagar.
CRPF Director General Security Preparations reviewed
Director General (DG) Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), chaired a meeting in Jammu to review security preparations before the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the announcement of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), the 38 -day journey of the cave temple located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in South Kashmir will begin on July 3 and will end on August 9.
CRPF said on ‘X’, “Director General of CRPF G. P. Singh chaired an important meeting with senior CRPF officials at Jammu Sector Headquarters to evaluate security preparations for Amarnath Yatra 2025. “
The CRPF said that the arrangements have been inspected in detail to ensure the uninterrupted visit of the devotees. The Director General visited the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday and made a strategic review of the preparations to ensure the smooth operation of the journey. He also visited major pilgrimage sites including Aadhaar and transit camps, assessed the ground arrangements and confirmed the commitment to all the devotees safe, smooth and spiritually rich.
Amarnath cave can be traveled by two routes. One visit can be done via Pahalgam in Anantnag district of South Kashmir via a traditional 48 km route and the 14 -km -climbing 14 -km -climbing Baltal route in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir.
