tirupati laddu controversy pil filed in supreme court for investigation sadhguru also reacted

A controversy has erupted over the alleged use of animal fat in the laddus of Tirupati temple prasad in Andhra Pradesh. A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court requesting a special investigation team to investigate the matter. Amidst all this, spiritual leader and founder of Isha Foundation Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has commented on the matter. He has described the use of beef fat in the temple prasad as worse than disgusting.

What did Sadhguru say?

In a post on the social media platform X, Sadhguru wrote, ‘Consumption of beef by devotees in temple prasad is disgusting. That is why temples should be run by devotees, not by government administration. Where there is no devotion, there cannot be purity. Now the time has come that Hindu temples should be run by devout Hindus, not by government administration.’

What was demanded by filing the PIL?

Hindu Sena president and farmer Surjit Singh Yadav has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court. He has said that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has ridiculed Hinduism and hurt the sentiments of Hindus by providing ‘Laddu Prasadam’ prepared from animal fat instead of ghee to devotees at Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple. This petition has been filed in the interest of common people, who cannot reach the court themselves due to lack of financial and legal equipment and thus they are not in a position to resort to ‘Public Interest Litigation’.
