Expressing concern over the country’s current political scenario, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that today’s political atmosphere is not favorable for Indian democracy and social health.
At the Sneh Milan ceremony organized by Rajasthan Progressive Forum at the Constitution Club in Jaipur, Dhankhar said that today the intensity and tone of political exchange is harmful to the democratic and social fabric of the country.
The Vice President said that he does not come under pressure nor put pressure on anyone. He said, “The atmosphere and temperature of today’s politics is neither suitable for our democracy nor in conformity with our ancient civilized values. Political rivals are not enemies. There may be enemies across the border, but there should be no enemy within the country. ”
He called for more decency in legislative conduct and warned that due to the conduct of public representatives inside the House, there may be dissatisfaction in the public due to discontent.
He said, it is worrying to see what is happening in the temples of democracy. If the dignity of these institutions is compromised, people will seek option. The Vice President also said that former MPs, MLAs can play an important role in improving the quality of public dialogues.
Dhankhar said that constitutional authorities are often criticized, especially when state and central governments belong to different political parties. He also said that the governors easily become targets in such a state.
He said, now even the Vice President and the President are not being left. I think this is not appropriate. Dhankhar said that he neither acted under any pressure nor was any pressure on him.
He said that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also remains neutral. Dhankhar said, they cannot be pressurized. I have worked with them. The Vice President said that the opposition is an important part of democracy and not any opponent.
He advocated open thoughts and dialogues. He said, expression is the soul of democracy. But when the expression dismisses oppressive, intolerant or anti -ideas, it loses its meaning. Creative debate is necessary. Listening to others strengthens your thoughts. Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde also addressed the program.
