Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody feels that Shreyas Iyer did not succeed in understanding the condition well during Punjab Kings’ defeat against RCB in IPL 2025 qualifier 1. RCB covered him on the lowest score in the IPL playoffs and achieved targets in just 10 overs, losing the Punjab team by eight wickets.
Punjab’s score came out to bat first against RCB, when Shreyas Iyer came to bat. However, Punjab captains were dismissed for just 2 runs. He caught wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma off Josh Hazlewood. Tom Moody talked about Iyer’s dismissal and said that Punjab captain failed to understand the situation.
Moody said on ESPN Cricinfo Timeout that many times you should move forward by keeping your ego in the pocket. According to me, this was a great example of not understanding the situation. You just had to face Hazelwood. It was an easy task that he had to face and end the rest of his attacks. Shreyas played the first ball and missed. This was the perfect line that you expect from Hazlewood.
Moody further said that, according to me, Shreyas completely misunderstood the situation of the game and his position.
