Trump on PM Modi: Trump made a big announcement about India, called Modi a wonderful person

US-India relations have always been important in the changing global political scenario. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump played a major role in taking these relations to even greater heights. But in the recent developments, Trump, despite his admiration for Modi, has sharply criticized India on trade issues. Even though Trump has targeted India many times on trade matters, his personal respect for Narendra Modi remains intact. Former President Donald Trump has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet him during his three-day visit to the US next week. Trump, the presidential candidate from the Republican Party, criticized India for misusing import duties but he described Prime Minister Modi as a wonderful person.

Modi is going to meet me next week

Trump said that India abuses a lot. He (Modi) is going to meet me next week and Modi is fantastic. I mean he is a fantastic person. Many leaders are fantastic. The former President made this remark while talking about trade and tax while answering a question at a meeting in Flint, Michigan. Trump said that these are very smart people. You know, they are experts in their game and they use it against us. India is very tough. Brazil is very tough. China is the toughest, but we are keeping an eye on China in terms of duty. He said that therefore, we are going to do reciprocal trade. If someone imposes 10 cents on us, if someone imposes two dollars on us, if someone imposes 100 percent duty on us, then we also impose that much on him. And this is going to happen? When asked about Trump’s remarks, the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi refused to answer. Prime Minister Modi’s visit will begin with the summit of ‘Quad leaders’.

Biden will host the summit

President Joe Biden will host the summit in Wilmington, Delaware. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will also attend the summit. Modi will then go to New York and address a huge community event in Long Island on September 22. The next day he will address world leaders at a summit at the United Nations headquarters. Presidential elections are to be held in the US in less than two months and there is a tough competition between Trump and Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Kamala Harris. General elections in the US will be held on November 5.
