The outgoing Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, wept in front of the cameras in the last days of his tenure on Thursday. The big reason for this is that after this weekend Liberal Party leadership competition, he will step down from his post. Trudeau, who announced his resignation as the Prime Minister and Liberal Party leader in January amid the decline in popularity rating, will step down as Prime Minister after the party was elected a new leader on Sunday (March 9). He became emotional remembering the challenges during his 10 -year rule.
Trudeau said that at the individual level, I have ensured every day in this office that I have put Canadian people first, that I should support people. And that’s why I am here to tell you that we are with you. Even in the last days of this government, we will not disappoint Canadian people today and in future. Trudeau also took a sarcasm on the withdrawal of a wider tariff on Canadian items for another month, calling it “Thursday”. His response led to a laugh in the audience. He also warned Canadian people about the difficult times to come.
Trudeau described the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Middle East Crisis and the Presidential post of Donald Trump as a “complex time” and recalled challenges during his Prime Minister’s period. He said, “I have seen Donald Trump for ten years,” he said that “serving Canadians has been respected by his life.” Trudeau said that Canada would remain firm and will carry forward ventilation tariffs and other measures until Trump completely retreats on the tariff. He said, “Our goal is to remove all tariffs.”
