US President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested Ukraine’s own counterpart Volodimir Jailonsci that the US should take ownership of Ukraine to their own hand to ensure the safety of important power plants of Ukraine.
Amidst the efforts of a ceasefire in Russia-Ukraine, Trump said that he spoke to Jailonsky on Wednesday morning. A day before this, Trump had discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a post on social media, Trump said that “he spoke” as per the requests and needs of Russia and Ukraine, as he wants a ceasefire agreement between the two countries. ” Trump said, “We are completely on the right path.”
During the conversation, Trump suggested to Jailonsky that the US should take ownership of Ukraine’s important power plants to their own hands.
According to a statement issued by the US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Trump told Jailonsky that the US could be very helpful in running these plants due to its expertise in the energy sector.
“American ownership at those plants may be the best security for that infrastructure.” Trump on Tuesday talked to Putin about a possible partial ceasefire with Ukraine, “Trump said.
Putin agreed not to target the energy infrastructure, but refused to support the 30-day full ceasefire. Before a conversation with Trump, Jailonsky said on Wednesday that Putin’s resolve is “very different from reality”, as there have been drone attacks all over the country.
At a press conference with Finland President Alexander Stub in Helsinki, Jailonski said, “Even last night, after Putin’s conversation with Trump, Putin said that he was allegedly ordered to stop attacks on Ukrainian energy installations, even then 150 drone attacks were made at night and targeting power plants during this night.
