Two Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh on Friday, police said. The incident took place in Abujhmad in Narayanpur district, a Naxal stronghold, when a road opening party – the team responsible for ensuring safe passage for military vehicles – was out for morning patrolling.

The police officer said that when the road opening party was moving from its camp towards nearby village Garpa, the IED exploded, injuring two soldiers. The injured soldiers are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

This incident comes after one villager was killed and three were injured in two separate incidents in the same district two days ago. Two CRPF personnel were injured in another IED blast by Naxalites in neighboring Bijapur district on Thursday.

A 10-year-old child and two policemen were injured in a similar IED blast in Sukma district. On January 6, eight policemen and their driver were killed in an IED blast planted by Naxalites in Bijapur.
