Uttar Pradesh: Two accused arrested in the case of gang rape of a girl

An auto driver and one of his associates have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 20-year-old girl in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A police officer gave this information on Friday.

The officer said that the incident took place in Maharajpur police station area of ​​Kanpur district. Eastern Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manoj Kumar Pandey said that the girl, a resident of Unnao district, had gone to Chakeri to meet auto driver Deepak Kushwaha (21). He told that the auto driver had called him a few days ago on the pretext of getting him a job.

The officer said that Deepak also called his friend Suraj Kushwaha to the spot and kept the girl traveling here and there in the auto and later took her to the forest, where he took turns to rape the victim.

According to the police, the girl freed herself from the clutches of the accused and reached her home and narrated her ordeal to her family members. Police said that the family members lodged a complaint at Maharajpur police station on Thursday, on the basis of which an FIR was registered and the search for the accused was started.

The officer told PTI that the police arrested Deepak and Suraj and both the accused confessed to the rape. He said that both the arrested accused will be presented in the concerned court on Saturday.
