BJP MLA Gupta from Rohini assembly constituency registered the biggest win among all BJP candidates in the Delhi Assembly elections. He won by a margin of over 37,000 votes.
BJP MLA Vijendra Gupta from Rohini has been elected as the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. After the name of Gupta was proposed by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, he was elected Speaker of the Assembly by sound vote. His candidature was supported by BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa. After he was elected, CM Rekha and Opposition Leader (LOP) went to the seat with him according to the tradition of Atishi Sadan.

However, immediately after -AAP MLAs staged a protest inside the Delhi Legislative Assembly. Leader of Opposition Atishi alleged that pictures of Dr. BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh have been removed from the CM office. Speaker Vijendra Gupta described it as irresponsible.
Vijendra Gupta said that it was a courtesy address. You should not have made it a political platform. The opposition does not want the House to run smoothly. The AAP has come with the intention of disrupting the House. Maintain the dignity of the house. The proceedings of the House were adjourned for 15 minutes amid the uproar. Earlier in the day, LG VK Saxena administered the oath to Protem Speaker Arvinder Singh Lovely, who administered the oath to the newly elected legislators in the first session of the eighth assembly. The swearing -in started at 11 am and the first CM Rekha Sharma was sworn in. He was followed by other ministers of his cabinet and other BJP, AAP MLA.
