Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday criticized the BJP government of Odisha after the alleged gang rape of a 20 -year -old woman in Odisha and claimed that violence against women in the state is growing with every passing day. Police said the 20 -year -old woman was allegedly gang -raped by about 10 people at a secluded place on the famous tourist destination of Odisha, Gopalpur beach. The victim is a graduate student of a private college, who lodged an FIR on Monday, after which a case was registered at Gopalpur police station.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi said in a post written in Hindi on X that strict words are also not enough to condemn the cruelty of a student by 10 people in Gopalpur, Odisha. He said, “Violence against women in Odisha is growing with every passing day. The state of the state who himself admits that about 44,000 women and children have gone missing in the last five years, there is not a priority of the safety of women, there is atrocities against women in itself.”
