Vishwakhabram: Trump’s camp, which was lagging behind in the US Presidential Debate, called Kamala Harris’s earrings a Bluetooth device

In the debate held before the presidential elections in November in the US, Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris defeated Republican rival Donald Trump. Kamala Harris was successful in cornering Trump on topics like US foreign policy, economy, border security and abortion. During the debate with Donald Trump, Kamala Harris was seen trying her best to compensate for President Joe Biden’s disappointing performance in the earlier ‘Presidential Debate’ and in the 90-minute debate, she tried to corner Trump from all sides. Let us tell you that the debate held on Tuesday started with both the leaders shaking hands, but later it turned into sharp and aggressive attitude.
What controversy arose?
The way Kamala Harris cornered Trump was highly praised, but Kamala’s brilliant performance has now come under question. Let us tell you that it is being claimed on social media that during the debate, Kamala Harris had clip-on audio headphones instead of pearl earrings. It is being claimed that Kamala Harris’s earrings were actually Iceback Sound Solutions’ Nova H1 audio earrings, a Bluetooth device designed to look like jewellery.

Company statement
As these speculations created a storm on social media, Malte Iversen, managing director of Iceback, a company that makes audio earrings, said in an alleged statement to the media, “We do not know whether Kamala Harris wore one of our products or not.” He also jokingly offered to make a male version of the device for Trump. Let us also tell you that despite the viral claims, experts say that Kamala Harris’s earrings are Tiffany & Co.’s double pearl hinged earrings, which cost around $800. Experts say that Kamala’s earrings bear little resemblance to Iceback’s Bluetooth device, which costs around $625.
Let us tell you that there are reports that Kamala Harris does not use Bluetooth earpieces as she finds it a security risk. She can be seen using wired earbuds during her election campaign. Let us also remind you that similar conspiracy theories were seen on social media during the 2020 and 2016 election campaigns claiming that Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton were using earpieces during the debate against Donald Trump.
A look at the debate
As far as the debate between Trump and Kamala is concerned, let us tell you that when former President Donald Trump condemned the current administration, Vice President Kamala Harris gave him a clear message, saying, “You are not contesting against Joe Biden. You are contesting against me.” During this 90-minute debate in Pennsylvania, Kamala Harris finally remarked, “I think you heard two completely different visions for the country tonight. One that focuses on the future and the other that focuses on the past and is going to take us backwards, but we are not going back.” She claimed that world leaders “laugh at Donald Trump” and leave no stone unturned to ridicule him. She said, “I have spoken with military leaders, some of whom have worked with you. They say you are a disgrace.”
Trump also tried to corner Harris and asked why she did not fulfill the promises she is making now in these three and a half years of her administration and under President Joe Biden? In his closing remarks at the debate, former President Trump said, “She started with the fact that she will do this, she will do that. She is going to do all these great things, but why has she not done it till now? She had three and a half years to do all this. She had three and a half years to solve the border dispute. She had three and a half years to create jobs and all the things we talked about. Why did she not do it then?”
Trump vowed that if he wins the general election on November 5, he will end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The former president raised the issue of Afghanistan several times in his address and said that the way the US army was withdrawn from there was the “most shameful moment in the history of America”. On this, Harris, referring to her talks with the Taliban, said that it should be remembered in what circumstances (the withdrawal of troops) took place. Trump claimed that Harris “hates Israel”, to which the Vice President retorted that Trump likes “dictators”. During the debate, Kamala Harris was seen interrupting Trump several times. However, it could not be heard as Trump’s mic was off while he was speaking.
Let us also remind you that the first ‘Presidential Debate’ was held on 27 June between President Joe Biden and Trump, in which Biden withdrew from the presidential race after his disappointing performance and paved the way for Kamala Harris to become the party candidate in the November elections. Anyway, it remains to be seen what new turn American politics takes in the future. But the way the fierce election campaign is being witnessed between Kamala and Trump, one thing is clear that the discussion that started with the earrings will go further.
