The Muslim population in Bihar is about 18 percent. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA got 6 percent of the total Muslim votes in Bihar. At the same time, India alliance (Grand Alliance) got 77 percent of the votes. In the Bihar assembly elections too, NDA got only 5 percent votes and the Grand Alliance got 76 percent votes. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, NDA got 12 percent votes and India alliance got 87 percent of Muslims. However, Muslim vote has been considered important for JDU. In this context, it is being claimed that if the Muslim community considers this bill an attack on its rights, the JDU may have to suffer losses. However, JDU has made it clear that poor Muslims will benefit from this bill.
