West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee is going to present a resolution in the upcoming monsoon session starting on Monday, condemning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir and the army’s response to the Basaran Valley after the attack will be appreciated. Sources said that ‘Operation Sindoor’ will not be mentioned in the proposal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to participate in the discussion on the proposal in the House on Tuesday. The Chief Minister had a schedule to go to New Delhi on Monday, but according to sources in the state administration, his plan has been postponed.

TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said that Mamta Banerjee has given a clear statement and our party’s attitude is also very clear. TMC will not do any politics on this after Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor. This is the case of the country. We are with the soldiers, with the country, we will all pay tribute together. This is the time when everyone should be united and no politics should be done on whatever stand the central government is taking. This is TMC. Therefore, the proposal being brought in our assembly will be in support of our soldiers and will be against anti -national terrorist forces. We do not want to do any party politics on this.

The proposal states, “The House expresses deep trauma and pain on the barbaric and inhuman attack on innocent tourists in the Basaron Valley of Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, resulting in a tragic life of 26 innocent people, including three from West Bengal,”. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) will propose on drinking water issues in Malda and Murshidabad districts and erosion of the Ganges in the upcoming monsoon session. The state government can also bring other Backward Classes (OBC) Reservation Amendment Bill, in which it is proposed to add 76 new castes to the OBC list. An official said that the State Cabinet on Monday approved adding 76 new castes to the OBC list based on the recommendations of the West Bengal Backward Classes Commission, leading to the total number of ethnic groups to 140.
