‘Whatever is happening, it will go on’, Rohit Sharma’s blunt on the speculation of retirement

Rohit Sharma has made it clear that he is not retiring from ODI cricket. The Indian captain was not in the mood to spare rumors during a conversation with his partner Virat Kohli, when the two took pictures after winning the Champions Trophy in Dubai on Sunday night. A clip is being shared a lot on social media, in which Rohit is allegedly telling Kohli how everyone is wondering that he is going to retire from ODIs, while it is not so.

Rohit clearly stated that we will not retire right now. They are feeling. He stressed that I am not retiring from ODI format. Please do not spread rumors. Asked about future plans, he said, “There is no future plan. What is happening will go on. ”Rohit said that his decision to play aggressive in the powerplay was taken keeping in mind the special goal. He said, “I did not do anything different today. I was doing the same for the last three to four matches. I know how important it is to score in the powerplay because we have seen that after ten overs, it is difficult to score runs after the spread of the field and the arrival of spinners.

Rohit and Kohli have now won the most ICC titles as Indian players, winning four titles each. Kohli was part of the ICC Champions Trophy and 2024 T20 World Cup winning Indian teams in the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 and 2025. On the other hand, Rohit has won the Champions Trophy and the 2024 T20 World Cup in the 2007 World T20, 2013 and 2025. Kohli has also won the ICC U19 World Cup as captain. Rohit, chasing a target of 252 runs by New Zealand in the final, scored the top score for India by scoring 76 off 83 balls. For his performance, the 37-year-old won the player-of-the-final award.
