There have been many incidents of vandalism of properties of minority Hindus as well as temples in Bangladesh. Such incidents are happening during and after the student-led movement in Bangladesh. Indian-American lawmaker Raja Krishnamurthy has urged the US State Department to work for the protection of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The State Department briefed Krishnamurthy about efforts being made to protect the rights of religious minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.
On the incidents of arson in Chittagong, the Ministry of External Affairs said that India has urged the Bangladesh government to take strict steps to ensure the safety of Hindus. On the attack on a Hindu temple in Canada, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that you have seen the comments made by us. We condemn the attack on the temple in Brampton. We also call on the Canadian government to maintain the rule of law. We hope that those who accused us of violence will be brought to justice.

The Ministry of External Affairs stressed that the security of Hindus and other religious minorities in Bangladesh is a top priority and they discuss this issue in almost every high-level diplomatic meeting with the Government of Bangladesh. Additionally, a release said the State Department is actively working to strengthen Bangladesh’s civil defense force by providing training specifically related to the protection of the rights of religious minorities.
