Voting for the second phase of Maharashtra and Jharkhand has ended. According to the Election Commission of India, till 5 pm, Jharkhand (Phase II) recorded 67.59% voting and Maharashtra recorded 58.22% voting. The results of both the states will come on November 23. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Gadchiroli district recorded the highest turnout of 69.63%, while Mumbai city recorded the lowest turnout of 49.07%. There was 49.76% voting in Thane. Other polling data shared by the ECI includes: Mumbai suburban 51.76%, Nagpur 56.06%, Aurangabad 60.83%, Pune 54.09%, Nashik 59.85%, Satara 64.16%, Dhule 59.75%, Palghar 59.31%, Ratnagiri 60.35%, in nanded 55.88%, and Latur at 61.43%.

Officials said more than 9.7 crore voters will decide the fate of 4,136 candidates in the fray. BJP, which is part of the Grand Alliance, is contesting on 149 seats, Shiv Sena on 81 seats and Ajit Pawar-led NCP on 59 seats. Congress, which is part of the opposition alliance MVA, has fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95 and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) 86 candidates. Smaller parties including Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) are also contesting the elections. In the 288-member lower house of the state legislature, BSP has fielded 237 candidates and AIMIM has fielded 17 candidates.
Jharkhand
Officials said that voting started at 7 am in 14,218 polling stations in 12 districts and ended at 5 pm, while voting ended at 4 pm in 31 polling stations. However, at all these centers people standing in the queue before the scheduled completion of polling were allowed to vote. In the Jharkhand elections, the ruling JMM-led India alliance is trying to retain power on the strength of its welfare schemes, while the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is trying to achieve it.

According to the Election Commission, the highest turnout of 76.16 percent was recorded in Jamtara district of the state, followed by 75.88 percent in Pakur, 72.46 percent in Deoghar and 72.01 percent in Ranchi district. At the same time, 71.98 percent voting took place in Ramgarh district, 71.74 percent in Dumka, 67.24 percent in Godda, 65.63 percent in Sahebganj, 65.89 percent in Giridih, 64.41 percent in Hazaribagh and 63.39 percent in Dhanbad. The lowest turnout till 5 pm was recorded in Bokaro district at 60.97 percent. A total of 1.23 crore voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in the second phase, including 60.79 lakh women and 147 third gender voters, another official said. A total of 528 candidates are trying their luck in the second phase of elections.
