Wimbledon 2024: Novak Djokovic faces booing from fans after win over Holger Rune

Novak Djokovic has reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. During this, he defeated Holger Rune 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the pre-quarter-finals played on Monday. Now he will face Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Djokovic appeared annoyed by the fans' hooting during the match and said that he would not accept such behavior. In fact, during the match, the fans were shouting Ruuuu in support of Rune, which sounded like hooting. Rune won his first Masters 1000 title in 2022 by defeating Djokovic in the final of the Paris Masters.

Djokovic is angry over the hooting

After the match, Djokovic spoke about his victory and said that he heartily thanked those people who respected him and came to watch the match by buying tickets and sat till late in the night to show their love for tennis.

He also criticized the people who were hooting and said that this will not be accepted. Djokovic said, I don't know if they were shouting slogans in support of Rune but this is also an excuse for hooting. I do not accept this.

Djokovic further said, I have been playing tennis for 20 years. I know how to insult someone. I have played in more adverse conditions than this. I do not get bothered by all these things. I focus on those who respect me. I thank from the bottom of my heart those who love tennis.

Rune said that I don't see any problem with this behaviour of the fans. They were taking my name. Which sounded like booing. I don't think it had any effect on the match result.

Currently, this will be Djokovic's 60th Grand Slam quarterfinal. He will play in the Wimbledon quarterfinal for the 15th time. Last time, he had to face defeat in the final.
