Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has met BJP-led grand alliance leaders Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde. During this time, Shah has given him great advice. Sources said Shah has advised alliance leaders Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde to ensure that no rebel from any faction of the grand alliance contests the elections. Shah also stressed the importance of the three parties fighting the elections together without internal differences to strengthen the alliance’s electoral prospects.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are trying to retain power in the state assembly elections to be held on November 20. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lead several election rallies across Maharashtra. According to sources, “From November 5 to November 14, Prime Minister Modi will hold rallies in various areas, not only to support BJP candidates but also to promote the entire Mahayuti alliance.” These rallies will focus on strengthening campaign efforts for all allied candidates.
Assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20. Counting of votes for the state will take place on November 23. The BJP is keen to retain power in Maharashtra in alliance with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is facing a challenge from the Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena-UBT Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, which is hoping to repeat its performance in the Lok Sabha elections. The opposition MVA alliance had won 31 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections.
