Meanwhile, Overseas Congress Chairman Sam Pitroda has expressed his opinion regarding inheritance tax. Sam Pitroda has supported the party's stance on redistribution of wealth. Along with this, Pitroda has advocated for inheritance tax law in the country. Emphasizing the need for a policy towards redistribution of wealth, Pitroda has cited the US. However, Congress has completely distanced itself from Pitroda's statement. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh clearly said that this is his personal opinion. This has nothing to do with the Congress party.

Sam elaborated on the concept of inheritance tax prevalent in the US. He said it is an interesting law, it says that you created wealth in your generation and now you are leaving, you have to leave your wealth to the public, not the whole, half. Pitroda said that it seems appropriate to me. He said that in India, you don't have that. If someone's wealth is 10 billion and he dies, his children get 10 billion and the public gets nothing. The Overseas Congress Chairman said that these are issues on which people will have to debate and discuss. He said that when we are talking about redistribution of wealth, we are talking about new policies and new programs that are in the interest of the people and not just in the interest of the super-rich.

Pitroda also said that the topic of wealth distribution is purely a 'policy issue'. He is worried about PM Modi's comments on the Congress manifesto. He said that we do not have minimum wage (in India). If we say about minimum wage in the country that you have to give so much money to the poor, then this is distribution of wealth. They do not pay adequate salaries to their peons, servants and domestic servants, but they spend that money on holidays in Dubai and London. Pitroda said that when you talk about distribution of wealth, it is not that you sit on a chair and say I have so much money and I will distribute it to everyone.

PM's comment about snatching mangalsutra

When asked to comment on the Prime Minister's criticism of the Congress manifesto, he said, “It is foolish to think like this. The Prime Minister of any country thinks like this… I have some concerns about his mind.” Criticizing the manifesto that it smacks of appeasement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21 had said that the party will conduct a survey and they will also take away the mangalsutra of women in Rajasthan. BJP candidate Navneet Rana has also criticized Congress and Rahul Gandhi on this issue.
