After the victory, coach Rahul Dravid said, I did not come here to relieve myself of the burden, these are lifelong memories for me

Bridgetown. Rahul Dravid, who is usually calm, was seen jumping like a child after winning the T20 World Cup and thanked his team for getting him the trophy as a coach which he could not win as a player. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final and ended the 11-year wait for the ICC title. Dravid said after the victory, “I have no words in the last few hours. I am proud of this team, the way the team fought in difficult circumstances. ”

He said, “Registering such a win after losing three wickets in the first six overs shows that this team is not going to give up its fighting spirit. As a player, I have not been so lucky to win the World Cup. I tried my best during my playing days but all this happens in sports.” This victory was also like a relief for Dravid, under whose captaincy the team was eliminated in the first round of the 2007 ODI World Cup. Dravid, however, said that he does not believe in such words.

He said, “First of all, this is not a relief from burden. I don't think about such things. There are many players who could not win the title. I am lucky to become a coach and get this team which made it possible for me to win the trophy and celebrate it. ” He said, “It feels good but I did not come with the goal of being free from burden. I am doing my work which I love. I enjoyed working with Rohit and this team. It was a good journey which I enjoyed completely. ”

Dravid's tenure as India's coach has also ended. He said, “It was wonderful to be a part of such a dressing room. These are memories for a lifetime. I thank the team and the support staff for this.” He said, “I do not believe in legacy etc. I am happy that I could give my best. I am happy for this team and for the Indian fans.” Dravid said that he will miss Rohit a lot.

He said, “Forget cricket and captaincy, I will miss Rohit a lot as a person. Hopefully we will remain friends. The amount of respect he gave me, the care he has for this team, the energy he has within him. He will be a great captain, a great player, and will win titles but as a person I am his fan.
