The Dargah of Hazrat Pir Malik Rehan Meera Saheb located in Vishalgarh Fort of Kolhapur, through advocate Satish Talekar and Madhavi Ayyappan, approached the High Court and said that he has applied to several officials to seek permission for Animal slaughter on 5 and 6 June 2025 and Urs from 7 to 12 June.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday allowed animal slaughter for Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) and Urs at the Dargah located in Vishalgarh Fort of Kolhapur, as well as reprimanded government officials to stop the application. A bench of Justice Dr. Neela Gokhale and Firdaus Poonawala said that the court had issued an order allowing the dargah to celebrate the festival last year.

However, the petitioners claimed that the officials still did not take action on the application.

Urs is celebrated every year for three days at the dargah, which is celebrated twice a year to commemorate the death anniversary of Pir Saheb-once in June after Eid-ul-Azha and every year from 12 to 14 January. The petition states that the Urs festival is very important because followers believe that Hazrat Pir Malik Sahab lands on the earth at the Dargah. The petition states that the silver gate near Pir Saheb’s grave opens on the first day of Urs.
