He said that Delhi AIMIM president Shoaib Jammei met Shahrukh Pathan’s family on December 23 and said that he can contest from Seelampur constituency.

Shoaib Jamei wrote that yesterday we met Shahrukh Pathan’s mother at her house. A delegation of Delhi Majlis (AIMIM) met his family and discussed their situation and legal aid. This small step of ours in the campaign for justice in Delhi will encourage many families whose children have been in jail for years without trial. He said that according to the Supreme Court, bail is the right of those prisoners whose cases are pending.

“His mother says the case against her son was registered at the behest of Arvind Kejriwal and she will not forget it,” he said. During the meeting at Pathan’s house, AIMIM joint secretary Manzar Shoaib, other party colleagues – Asghar Ansari, MNS Nasir and Nadeem Shaikh were also with him. Pathan, who was in the news after he pointed a gun at a policeman during the 2020 north-east Delhi riots and his picture with the pistol went viral on social media, is in jail for his involvement in the violence. Earlier in October this year, Delhi High Court had refused to grant him bail.

Earlier, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) had announced that former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain will contest from Mustafabad assembly constituency in the upcoming Delhi elections. AIMIM president and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi made this announcement after meeting Hussain. He tweeted that MCD councilor Tahir Hussain has joined the party and will be our candidate from Mustafabad assembly constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
