South African fast bowler Garald Koetzi has been ruled out of the upcoming tri -series with hosts Pakistan and New Zealand. He is also out of the Champions Trophy 2025. South Africa has confirmed this on its official X handle. Garald Koetzi was scheduled to replace the injured Enark Northern, but on Wednesday 5 February 2025, while bowling at the Center of Excellent in Pretoria, he complained of tightness at the waist.
A statement issued by Cricket South Africa said that Protiaz fast bowler Gerald Koetzi has been ruled out of the upcoming tri -day international series against Pakistan and New Zealand. The 24 -year -old player was focused on the waist while completing his 10 overs during training at the Center of Excellence in Pretoria on Wednesday morning. After further evaluation by the Protiaz Medical Team, it was decided that these symptoms have increased the risk of serious injury to the high bowling load required for the upcoming 50 -over match. Their replacement will be announced at the appropriate time.
Cricket South Africa also confirmed the Garal Coitzi will not be available for selection for the Champions Trophy 2025 starting on February 19. The statement said, the names of Koetzi will not be considered for the selection of the ParascC Champions tropy 2025.
Gerald Koetzi was earlier dropped from the SA20 tournament due to hamstring injury. He was included in the South African team for the first match of the first tri -series, but was later dropped from the team due to the severity of injury. Koetzi has played 14 ODIs for South Africa and has taken 31 wickets.
The South Africa will take on New Zealand in Lahore on 10 February in their first match of the tri -series. Two days after that, he will face Pakistan in Karachi. The tri -series final will be held in Karachi on 14 February. South Africa, who included Group B for the Champions Trophy, will start their campaign with a match against Afghanistan in Karachi on 21 February. Other teams of his group are Australia and England.
