Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu along with Cabinet Ministers of Himachal Pradesh visited IGMC Hospital Shimla and met the injured Congress leader Bambar Thakur and came to know about his well being. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that Bambar Thakur ji is out of danger, doctors are taking care of him. Bambar Thakur, a Congress MLA from Bilaspur assembly seat in Himachal Pradesh, was shot dead by unknown people at his residence. Police gave this information. Police said Thakur and his private security officer (PSO) were injured in the attack. He said that the attackers fired around 12 bullets. The former MLA was celebrating Holi with other people in the premises of the government residence allotted to the wife, when four people came and started firing. According to the police, Thakur is shot in the leg. Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal said that a campaign has been started to catch the culprits. He said that the attackers have allegedly run on foot towards the main market.

Dhawal said that the accused will be caught soon and a case will be registered against them under the relevant sections. According to the police, soon after the attack, Thakur was referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, while PSO was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bilaspur. Taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that I have spoken to Bambar Thakur and urged him to go to AIIMS, but he wants to get treatment in IGMC Shimla. The Deputy Commissioner has been instructed to take necessary action.
